Gastronome

Planning for meals and nourishment along the trail will be challenging. Options will include re-supply at local shops and markets in towns along the way or through provisions mailed to a general delivery U.S. Post Office address in advance of my travels.  A regular grocery store, or more often only a quick-mart or dollar store will be my only options.

Since learning about and embracing a Paleo diet, I realize that continuing on this path while hiking will be an even greater challenge.  For those of you not familiar with this way of eating, more information can be found in this wonderful Paleo Magazine.

Having high quality, lightweight, nutrient and calorie dense meals is important.  I've reached out and been in conversation with several progressive companies about assisting me with product donations and/or sponsorships.

Many thanks to these wonderful companies for their interest and consideration:

  2. More positive news from the great companies that have agreed to sponsor my hike! I spoke with Danielle from Wellshire Farms yesterday afternoon. She will soon send samples for me to try out on my fall training hikes. Today I received product (Wild Albacore Tuna) from Wild Planet Foods. I also received an email today from Tressa at Salt, Fire and Time. She will be sending me a case of their jerky. Thanks to all of my sponsors!!
